Matt resigned in 2023 as County Attorney and joined the law firm of Lombardi & Miler, PLLC.

As Madison County Attorney, Matt gained extensive criminal experience prosecuting many felony and misdemeanor cases, including murder, sex abuse, drug and alcohol crimes, and those responsible for the burning of the Cedar Bridge in Madison County. He also represented the County in their civil cases including windmill utility and zoning issues that were litigated in district court and the Iowa Court of Appeals. As County Attorney Matt also reviewed and prepared contracts, open records requests, ordinances and provided legal advice to the County elected officials, departments, and various boards.

Matt Schultz has a unique skill set that sets him apart, with extensive experience in criminal law, local and State government, litigation, and business and contract law, representing his clients on broad and complicated issues. Matt is in his element in the courtroom, the government, and the boardroom. Matt has also lived abroad and speaks Spanish fluently.

Matt Schultz is a father of five children and in his free time loves to spend time with his family, run and bike, go backpacking, and cheer for the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Chicago Cubs, and the BYU Cougars.
